ITALIAN CUISINE

One of the well known cuisines in the world today is Italian cuisine. However, it has been a victim of its own success as most people associated it only with two of its most famous dishes: pasta and pizza. However, Italian cuisine is much more than that. In fact, it is safe to assume that even French cuisine owes a lot to Italian cookery than it would care to admit. Like most great cuisines, Italian cuisine is varied due in part to its relative age as a state - it was only unified in the 19th century from countless city states with different coking styles, and its geography - the country runs north to south from the Alps to the Mediterranean. Despite these attributes though, Italian coking remained so distinct that in no time at all, the world came to know about pizza and pasta - its major contribution to world cuisine.
