Siomai
Ingredients:
Won ton or siomai wrappers
Soy sauce and calamansi for dip
hot chili paste
For filling:
2 tbsp chopped carrots (optional)
2 1/2 cups ground chicken or pork
1/4 cup shrimps, shelled and finely chopped
1/2 cup turnip, chopped
2 tbsp light sot sauce
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground pepper
Preparations:
1. In a bowl, mix all the ingredients for the filling; mix well and set aside
2. Place the heaping teaspoon of the filling on a siomai wrapper. Alternately, you can place a wrapper on small muffin mold in order to get desired shape of siomai which is pouch like.
3. Sprinkle carrots on top to add color. Crimp the sides of the wrapper to partly seal, but leave the top slightly open.
4. Steam for 25 minutes in a regular steamer.
5. Serve with soy sauce and calamansi dip, along with hot chili paste if you want the dip to be spicy hot.
