Southern Style Fried Chicken


Ingredients:

1 young chicken
1 1/2 cups flour, sifted
1/2 tsp salt
dash of ground pepper
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
cooking oil for deep frying

Preparations:

1. Cut the chicken in serving pieces.

2. Steam the chicken pieces until tender. Dry and cool before frying.

3. Prior to frying, mix the flour, salt, pepper, and baking powder. Set aside.

4. Beat the egg and add to milk. Combine this with the flour mixture. Mix thoroughly. This will serve as the batter.

5. Dip the chicken pieces into the batter and deep fry until golden brown.

Note: If desired, you can deep fry apple slices as a garnish and side dish for the chicken
